汕头市模具工业协会成立于2003年11月17日，协会是由汕头市行政区域内近200家从事相同经济活动的模具企业及模具相关企业、科研院所等单位，为维护共同的合法经济利益而自愿结成、依法注册登记的行业性的非营利性社会组织。汕头市模具工业协会接受社团登记管理机关汕头市民政局的监督管理和汕头市经济贸易局的业务指导；本会是汕头市工商联（总商会）、广东省模具工业协会、中国模具工业协会团体会员。
汕头市模具工业协会的宗旨是：遵守宪法、法律、法规和国家政策、地方法规，遵守社会道德风尚；当好政府的参谋和助手，沟通会员与政府和社会之间的关系，发挥政府和企业之间的桥梁和纽带作用；大力推动行业的科技进步与经济发展，推进“工业强市”的战略目标，促进与国际、国内各区域模具行业、会员企业之间经济技术的交流与合作；加强行业的服务、自律、协调、监督作用，维护行业、会员的合法权益和共同经济利益，维护市场秩序和公平竞争，发挥协会促进社会公共利益的作用，推动社会进步。
“模具是工业之母” 。汕头是我国较早发展模具工业的城市，20世纪50年代，汕头就有了手工模具生产；到了改革开放的80年代，做为经济特区，汕头模具工业得到了进一步发展； 90年代中旬，汕头的模具的制造技术在国内已属中上水平，更以 “精细”著称。近年来，随着我市“工业战略”的实施，汕头模具逐渐凸现强大的影响力和活力。“中国玩具看广东，广东玩具看澄海”，玩具礼品已成为汕头市澄海区工业经济第一支柱产业，占中国玩具出口量的9％；“中国文具看广东，广东文具看潮阳”，汕头市潮阳区、潮南区的文具业已经占有约三分之一的中国市场。目前，汕头模具工业以玩具礼品、文具用品、音像制品、化妆品、食品包装、机械装备、电子信息、精细化工产业集群为依托，在汕头市各区、县及周边地区形成了极具特色的模具生产基地，许多模具达到了世界先进水平。
汕头市模具工业协会秉承“海纳百川、自强不息”的精神，参与有关模具发展、模具改革以及与行业利益相关的政府决策讨论；提出了发展汕头模具工业的建议；组织研讨培训、技术咨询、信息交流、会展参观以及产品推介活动；开展行业统计调查、出版会刊、宣传最新行业信息、模具标准、推动企业创新；大大增强了行业凝聚力，促进了汕头模具工业的发展，由此赢得了良好的声誉，荣获了“汕头市先进行业商会”的称号。目前协会已经成为提升汕头模具工业整体地位，服务和引导企业发展不可缺少的行业组织，成为我市行业协会中较具活力的社团之一。
促进汕头模具工业发展，为会员服务，是汕头市模具工业协会成立的初衷。协会将在会长、理事会的带领下、在全体会员通力合作、在各级政府、民政局、经贸局、工商联、中国模协、省模协的大力支持和热心帮助下，根据章程、明确职能，充分发挥协会的桥梁纽带作用，加强海内外行业间交流，搭建政企沟通平台，为我市“工业强市”做一些建设性的工作。我国已经加入WTO，企业要奋发有为，它呼唤着共同的参与和努力，为此，协会号召全体会员树立发展的信心，抢抓机遇、乘势而上，携起手来，共谋汕头模具事业发展之大计。
　

Shantou Mould Industry Association, built on Nov. 17, 2003, is an economic organization made up of about 200 mould companies, relevant companies and science and research institutes, which are doing the same business in Shantou and neighbor cities, and is a kind of non-profit group organized voluntarily in order to vindicate common legal economic benefit. The tenet of Shantou Mould Industry Association is to provide service for the members, vindicate the legal right and common economic benefit of the industry and the members; to vindicate the market order and fair competition, make a way of exchanging ideas between the members and the government and society and develop its effect to improve the social common benefit. Shantou Mould Industry Association is a member of Shantou Business Association (General Chamber of Commerce), Guangdong Mould Industry Association, and China Mould Industry Association.

  “Mould is the mother of the industry.” Shantou is a city which the mould industry has been developed earlier, in the fifties of the twentieth century, Shantou developed manual mould production; in the eighties of reform and opening, as economic special zone, Shantou mould industry has been developed greatly; in the middle of the nineties, mould producing technology of Shantou has been in the upper level, and has been famous for its “fine and precision”. In the recent years, as the “Industrial Strategy” has been carried out in our city, Shantou mould has been showing its strong influence and energy. “China Toys depend on Guangdong”, “Guangdong Toys depend on Chenghai”, toy gift has become the first pillar industry of Shantou Chenghai Industrial Economy, and occupies 9% of the China toy export; “China Stationery depends on Guangdong, Guangdong Stationery depends on Chaoyang”, the stationery industry of Chaoyang and Chaonan District of Shantou occupies 1/3 of China market. Now, Shantou Mould Industry is based on toy gift, stationery, audiovisual product, cosmetics, food packaging, mechanical equipment, electrical information and fine chemical industry, around Shantou, there has been special mould producing base, a lot of mould have reached world advanced level.

 Shantou Mould Industry Association has taken part in the discussion of mould development, mould reform and government decision related with the mould industry with “Receiving all and striving constantly” spirit; presented the suggestion of developing Shantou mould industry; organized training, technology consulting, information exchange, exhibition visit and product recommending activities; done industrial statistics survey, published proceedings, publicized the newest industrial information and mould standard, pushed the company to innovate; enhanced industrial cohesion, improved the development of Shantou Mould Industry, and has got good reputation and has got the name of “Shantou Advanced Industrial Commerce”.

 To create Shantou mould industry quickly is the original intention of establishing Shantou Mould Industry Association. China has joined WTO, the companies should be successful, it calls us to get together and work hard, so we invite all the people with the same industry honestly come to visit Shantou mould companies and cooperate with us and give us suggestion on how to make the “Shantou Mould” become China mould industry brand.
